I love the scriptures!!! The wonderful account of Esau and Jacob meeting once more. What a fabulous study on reconciliation without losing face! Reconciliation while maintaining one's integrity and sovereignty. What a message on the art of giving and receiving. What a message on not falling into another's debt but maintaining autonomy and being able to stand on ones own. Combine this with the wrestle that Jacob had with the Lord, himself and being left limp to witness to him evermore who had given him the ability to have and exercise his power. Wow, need you ask Why I love the scriptures!!
We talked about the physical dynamics that demand that at least the appearance of favoritism be among the children of men. We also looked at how one goes about life without taking anything for granted as is shown by Jacob's gifts offered to Esau and by his insistence that he accept them as a sign of his forgiving Jacob.
Woe to the world because of offenses...they are a part of this life and it brings sorrow. Christ knew and taught this. He goes on to say wo to the man who brings about the offense and then begins the discourse on removing the hand or the foot that causes you to trespass. Metaphorically speaking it seems safe to say that we must be willing to accept great duress to what is comfortable or seems natural to us as we walk into the light and follow Christ. We will continue this discussion next time as we follow what more the Savior taught at this time. Till we meet again, bye for now.
