I love the scriptures!! I want you to know how much I value my time in the scriptures. I come to them like a wanderer in a desert and long for the sweetness of spirit that I feel in the written word of God. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the literal Son of God and the only one worthy to open the door to the throne of God once more for each of us. Review: Nephi is recounts how the Lord blesses us as we keep the commandments and this he does in temporal ways such as providing means for us to have food and shelter, as well as in being able to have a good attitude about the conditions that we are living in as he did for the wives of these men as they bore children in the wilderness. Nephi reminds us that God will provide us with what we need when our purpose and heart is set on serving him. To recognize that God is the provider and supplier of all that the earth offers man is a great awareness and gift of the Spirit in my opinion. (note the phrase in verse 5, "...all these things were prepared of the Lord that we might not perish." In Doctrine and Covenants we discover that the blessing of those who find the truth and embrace it is to share it with their fellow man. Each of us in our own ways will do this as we live faithfully according to the commandments of God. Ours may or may not be a formal call to a mission yet we all have been called to the work once we know the truth. In the book of Moses we heard the discourse of Adam and the Lord after Adam and Eve, his wife had partaken of the forbidden fruit. They were clothed and prepared for their sojeirn outside the garden of Eden. Just as Adam and Eve did not die immediately we too, when we choose to go against the commandments of God may not have immediate consequences but rest assured they will come. For this reason once we recognize and are willing to repent it is important to do all we can to keep our lives pure and share the witness of the truth so that others may be warned.
