We might look at this image and think, Only God could ever walk on water, and not us!  Naturally, God could do anything; He is God; while we would need a solid ground, just below the surface of such body of water, to not sink and nearly drown as almost happened to Peter!

If we look at our lives though, and all of the situations, and circumstances and challenges that we go through; we may safely correlate the image with the storms in our lives and how we feel and what we experience when under such pressureOur "faith" goes tested quite often, and sometimes, severely so, I might add.

A popular notion these days is that there's never a moment's rest for the weary; it's always something; if it isn't one thing, it's another.  And, on and on, like this, our faith goes tried and tested!  A funnier notion yet, is when people assume that because we are Christians life isn't supposed to be so hard on us.  They probably think of Christianity in terms of our having a Jeannie who grants us all the wishes we could make, and thus should see of us trouble-free lives!  Some have even asked, "Why bother to get in with God if life still won't ever be 'trouble free!'"

Just think, what might have occurred to Peter in that wild ocean, panicking that way, had Jesus not been there or reached down and took hold of him.  Obviously, he might have drowned, since he didn't think [fast enough] to swim back to the safety of the boat he'd been in; that also was going tossed about in the storm.  Or he was just dumb enough to know he couldn't swim and stepped out of the boat, to walk on water, only to look around him at the storm and fall apart from fear!  Got to give him credit, though; he attempted to be brave enough to live by faith and meet Jesus half way, atop the water!  His mistake overtook him when he failed to keep his focus on Jesus and instead looked away, seen the storm, realized no sure ground beneath his feet, and gave way to the pressure of that situation.

In many ways, we're all a little bit of Peter and our life very much is a whole lot like the storm that he was in!  Within this equation, it is easy to forget that God walks with us; that with Him nothing is impossible!  That He is for us, on our side; has got our backs and won't let us down if we have faith in Him.  In fact, even with or without faith, God still provides well for us, except we don't acknowledge it.

Circumstances have their own sure way of making us think we're in deep [trouble] if we don't get ourselves out of the situations!  Circumstances could sometimes be so vicious it leads some to do the unthinkable, and further ascertain that "God Almighty, Jesus" wasn't "for" us but against us!  God takes his time with us; he sometimes takes his sweet...time in answering our cry-out to Him!  Not because He didn't hear us or gets off [like does Satan] on watching us suffer in despair; in that time of "waiting for God" - God is watching how you handle yourself in all situations.  He already has his "good plan" in mind for you, (see Jeremiah 29:11), but He checks to see just how deep runs your loyalty and trust in him when the storms hit.  The Lord is no Jeannie in the sky, and life on earth never will be La-La Land, so, in all your getting, get understanding.

Learn to Trust God, Believe God, take Him at His Word.  Look not at the circumstances, with any fear of them; they are here for a good reason; look instead at and To God, as this is the best, most sure way to live by faith, not by sight.
