Not fond of the entertainment industry, former RichGirl, Kristal Lyndriette Smith, is back with a solo career and ready to take on the industry.  Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina, Kristal has always been surrounded by music.  With a father who is a bass player and mother, aunt, and uncle who were singers, it’s no wonder this R&B sensation has a voice so impeccable that it captured the attention of actor, singer, and author, Tyrese Gibson. Kristal began singing at her local hometown church at the age of six.  Growing up, she was inspired by many female vocalists, including her all-time favorite, Brandy, and the legendary Whitney Houston.  “I love her [Brandy] voice; her music has been inspiring to me by getting me through a lot of tough times.”  Kristal was always given the advice to never give up on her dreams and to not allow anyone to tell her she could not succeed.

At the age of 16, Kristal signed her first deal to a production company in LA where she met Rich Harrison.  Pursuing her dream to become a singer, Kristal joined an R&B female group managed by Harrison called “RichGirl” signed to Richcraft/JIVE Records. The group has opened up for comedian Kevin Hart and various artists such as Mario, Raheem Davaughn, and Beyonce.  Four years into the group, things just were not going well.  Due to internal issues between group members, RichGirl separated in January of 2011.

Kristal is now the only artist signed on author, actor, and singer Tyrese Gibson's label Voltron Recordz.  With new single, “Silhouette,” which dropped November 6, 2013 and an album planned to release summer 2014, Kristal is off to a great start and is ready for the journey ahead.
