Child Welfare Federal Law Overview

Margaret A. Burt, J.D., an attorney who specialized in the representation of children, adults and child welfare agencies in trial court and appellate practice, will provide an overview of federal child welfare laws.  Working in the child welfare arena requires all legal professionals to be educated and informed about federal statutes and requirements. The presentation will focus on the following federal laws:

  • Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) 1974
  • Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) 1978
  • Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act of 1980
