Houston, Texas-Breaking into the music industry with a bang, Houston-based upstart label GOAT Entertainment recently became one of the first rap labels to sign a distribution deal with independent powerhouse X Records/Malaco Records. Boasting a roster of the state's most rapidly emerging rappers HQ, Chu Zu, Nina 9 and the MLP Boys, GOAT Entertainment also became the new home to trailblazing Texas rapper E.S.G. Earlier this year, the label dropped E.S.G.'s latest mixtape Family Bidness 3 and is set to drop E.S.G.'s forthcoming album The Owner's Manual as well as solo albums from each artist on the label. "It's an honor to be the first rap label on Malaco," says GOAT Records CEO Al Rucker. "They have been putting out quality, classic music since I was a little boy. And I feel like GOAT is on its way to making rap music history like it did with the blues that came before us." Malaco Records is an independent record label based in Jackson, Miss. Founded in 1962 as a booking agency, Malaco Records has been the home of several blues and gospel acts such as Johnnie Taylor, Dorothy Moore, Little Milton and the Mississippi Mass Choir. Continuing in their long history of delivering timeless music, Malaco marches into new terrain with the recent partnership with GOAT Records. "It feels really good to be in the position that we're in," Rucker admits. "I'm expecting a great outcome. It's the perfect time. We got a legend on our label and the next Texas trendsetters. Expect great things."
