Musicians and Founders of Music & Arts USA Jamey Staub and David Gross join host Garth Sandiford to talk about their organization, mission, and upcoming event "An Unbelievable Night Of Rock and Roll" in NYC.
The project that Music and Arts USA is now working on focuses on 10 elementary schools in each borough of New York. Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island. Each school will be given 20 weeks per school year of music instruction four periods per day, one day per week. They will work with 200 children per school each year. Starting with 1st grade and ending 5 years later with 5th grade. The same group of children will be followed through their elementary school education and data will be taken regarding each students behavior, cooperation, listening skills, test scores and overall ability from day one. Our data, from these 50 schools and roughly 10,000 students compared to the rest of the NYC Public Schools will be able at the end of 5 years, to unequivocally prove that music education is an important component of every child’s development and should never be eliminated for budgetary concerns.
