Today we welcome Ohio Congressman and author Tim Ryan. Mr. Ryan believes it is time for Americans to find quiet and to slow down. After the 2008 presidential election he went on a five-day silent retreat, with Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and found a way to be present more often. Congressman Ryan is dedicated to bringing this practice into all major American institutions such as: schools, hospitals, prisons and the military.
In this show we explore with Congressman Ryan the scientific findings that support the benefits of mindfulness, powerful stories from his book, A Mindful Nation and practical tips how to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life.
