Myth and Fact on Election 08

Myth: Sarah Palin lost the election for John McCain

Fact: Palin gave McCain a shot of life he didn't have. McCain's support among the conservative base was small until Palin came along. Palin turned many reluctant conservatives into full-fledged McCain supporters. If nothing else, Palin took shots at Obama that McCain wouldn't.

    Myth: Conservatism is dead

Fact: Conservatism isn't dead, it fell off his bike and skinned his knee, but he'll be OK. Even though he'll be on the ground holding his knee for a little, eventually he'll get up. He'll dry his tears, walk into the house, put on a bandage and keep riding. The conservative movement has taken hits before, Clinton was president for 8 years and Carter was president for 4 years. Conservatism will be back.

Myth: McCain wasn't the best nominee the GOP could have chosen

Fact: Actually, that one's probably true. McCain was scared witless of being criticized. You can't win an election when you're mortified of making a mistake. McCain played to not lose when he needed to play to win.
