Footnote to the show by J. Christiansen:

Money raised for this year's 2012 show, will go into the next one, follow up.  Example, the 2011 first one, 53 artists, planned for one purchase prize to give away, was able to give away three, and allow committee to continue this year with a start on printing costs, 5 purchase prizes in the drawing this year, with 75 artists.

The purchase prizes are juried from the early bird entries, and artists paid for their work. The effort is an initiative of the Stanislaus County Travel and Tourism Regional Roundtable, currently administered by an all volunteer steering committee, and the cadre of artists who sign up for the event, the volunteer participation of the gallery and chamber of commerce, cvb staffing to assist in selling tickets.  At some future time, if budget allows, an upgrade to the website, currently a free site with wordpress but with limitations in function and coverage, advertising costs being prohibitive, the AOS effort will eventually invest in some paid advertising to field greater number of patrons.

Benefit to artists, develop a bigger, better audience for works produced here, focus on the actual artists, more numerous than our number of galleries.  Monies raised at present, reinvested in future of the AOS event as a sustaining annual effort.
