Greetings from Philadelphia, the home of American Independence! What a privilege it is to be standing in the very streets upon which walked the likes of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and so many brave Signers and Framers! Cobblestone streets so narrow they have to be shoveled by hand in the winter--wide enough only for horses and small carriages, these streets have seen over two centuries of history made as American has grown from a small band of 13 Colonies to the great superpower of the 20th Century. Will she survive to remain a superpower in the 21st? There are some who doubt it--there are some who try to thwart it--but the prevailing spirit today in the City of Brotherly Love was without exception full of good cheer, brotherly & sisterly love and respect for one another as Americans celebrating a Birthday. People of all cultures, races, genders, ages and political ends of the spectrum attended Philadelphia's Independence Day parade, led off by a USMC Color Guard, gathered at two MAGNIFICENT Tea Parties, watched reenactment of the Lincoln Douglas debates, toured the Constitutional Center, Independence Hall, Independence Mall and the Liberty Bell, strolled through the greens and parks celebrating America's birth and their forefathers' brilliance as they framed and signed first the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, followed by the 1787 Articles of Confederation and finally our Constitution. What an honor to be here to celebrate our Nation and to reaffirm, now more than ever, our commitment to preserve and protect, from enemies within and without. God Bless America, and all of her citizens! And Join us tonight for continued celebration!
