At age 16 his minister of music prophesied that he would write songs. One year later, God blessed him with his first two songs: “Speak to Me Lord” and “Place of Praise”. Since then, he has been a student of music ministry. His music has been influenced by The Winans, Commissioned, John P. Kee, Marvin Sapp, Marcus Cole, Men of Standard, and many others.Today, Darick has more than 15 years of music ministry experience singing with his 4 brothers in the group "Connection" The Rutley Brothers. He and his brothers are all talented singers, musicians, song-writers, and composers who grew up singing in their father's church and other ministries across the state of Michigan. In November of 2007 he released his first single titled “Leaning”. It gained him the #3 spot on the charts in Detroit gospel radio and remained on the top 30 charts for the first three consecutive months. He has opened up for and shared the stage with various artists, including Marvin Sapp, Kierra "Ki ki" Sheard, Marvin Winans Jr., Bishop Liston Page, Dr. Jamal Harrison-Bryant, and 21:03 - to name a few. He is featured on "Your Will" on Integrity recording artist, Ken Reynolds' recently released project entitled "One World One God". In 2002, at the age of 21, he answered the call to ministry; and in February of 2008, after 6 years of ministry internship, he was ordained as Elder. He currently serves as an associate pastor of Berea Family Tabernacle of Faith Church (Pontiac, MI). One of his favorite scriptures is Eph. 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”.
