Weathering the Storm” - Scaling back and Scaling up – Why the quality of employees is more important now than ever.

Automation has been able to make companies more profitable.  It has also led to a need for our workforce to be better trained; develop a higher skill level.  The gas station attendant is no longer there to pump your gas or to ask you if you oil needs to be checked.

There are only two cashiers at the grocery store when there used to be five (5).

As the middle class has been forced to tighten their belt and the government too has been forced to tighten theirs.  Small businesses have been impacted negatively.

In today’s market place, profit margins have to be scaled back.  How should a company compensate for the potential of loss profit margins?  How do you re-engineer your company to get better profit margins?

Is automation the answer?  How do you really work smarter with less?   How do you get more productivity with the same employees, or do you need to get new employees?

These topics can be discussed from many angles.  There is a political one that deals with how we have failed to properly fund education and there is also another angle; the cultural dummying down of our community, and the malaise in our workforce.

Join Dennis Smith, Director, Technical Assistance at the
Center for Minority Business Development at Prince George's Community College and Diane Peters from TCE, Inc as they discuss - How should we go about re-tooling our employees with skills and with a new mind set?
