Most people have an intense dislike for liars. We don't like other people lying to us, yet we tell ourselves lies almost every day.
You know which ones: You lie and say you feel fine when you know you ought to be in the bed because you're exhausted.
You assure yourself and your co-workers that you can handle the extra workload when you're staggering under the weight of the assignments you already have.
What about personal relationships? Your significant other wants to break it off, or your spouse suddenly wants a divorce. You say you understand and you'll be fine - even though you don't and you know you won't. You tell yourself you have to be strong; you can't let the world know you're falling apart. Really?
