It wasn't until the pregnancy of Melissa's eldest son did she feel a true desire to write. She began, simply writing how she felt about the child growing inside her and the love she felt for her husband.
During this time Melissa Ann Ricks wasn't cultivating her relationship with Christ; although she went to church, her relationship was non-existent. It was only until Melissa resolved and reconnected with the Master and sought to draw closer to Him, did her desire to write became stronger, and strangely to her surprise, A NEED. Through her yearning to please God, the stories she created increased, realizing that this could be her way of bringing souls into the Kingdom of God.
