Just when we think we have everything figured out, our minds slam shut and are no longer open to new input. Many spiritual seekers are hopeful that one day science will "prove" the things they believe to be true, but even scientific truth changes and evolves! Remember, at one time it was a scientific "truth" that the Earth was flat, that Pluto didn't exist, then that it was a planet, now that it isn't, that humans couldn't fly, and a host of others. What is the role of doubt in the spiritual life?
