Up until now, we have focused on dissolving communication barriers between people. But what about dissolving barriers to "All That Is." It is time to take a step in a different direction and contemplate our communication on another level...with Mystery all around us. One translation by Ursala Le Quin of the Tao Te Ching talks about Mystery as follows: "The way you can go isn't the real way. The Name you can say isn't the real name. Heaven and earth begin in the unnamed name's the mother of the ten thousand things. So the unwanting soul sees what's hidden and the ever-wanting soul sees whats it wants. Two things, one origin, but different in name, whose identity is mystery. Mystery of all mysteries! The door to the hidden." My next guest, theologian Herb Long, commented, "I return to these lines over and over again. Each time I find myself pausing -- even dropping for a moment into silence. And not infrequently I'm left awestruck. So many questions: If we can't talk about mystery, how are we to "be" when we're confronted by it? Maybe allowing ourselves to feel the sense of awe is at least a beginning..." Join me and my next guest, Herb Long, Doctor of Theology and university instructor, December 1st and be ready to embrace wonder!
