We have talked about the need to create community with others if we are going to solve the problems we face. Are you confused about the group dynamics you run into in life? Have you joined a group only to find that the “politics” got in the way of the group being effective? What about at work? Do you dread those meetings you have to attend because someone is always working against the common goal? What about at home? How can you get everyone on the same page? Just how do we create community if we are always in conflict one way or another when we try to? Patti Lind, university instructor and private consultant, will join me to further the conversation about community by talking about how to communicate safely and effectively within groups. In our complex and interdependent society, communicating effectively in groups is a necessity. Whether we are at home, at work, volunteering for an organization, or helping out at church, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, and presentation all demand special skills in group settings. Join Patti and I on my next show to learn how to function effectively within groups.
