DaeQuan Morrison has a vivid imagination and loves to write. He attended Allen Christian School in New York and is currently in the 8th grade. His favorite hobbies are Basketball, Reading and playing Video Games.

DaeQuan loves to read. He has been writing stories from the age of six. He received a Certificate of Award in his Pre-K class for Reading. A reading Achievement Certificate in Phonics & Spelling in his Kindergarten class and a “Reading-out-loud” World Class Performance Award in his Grade 1 class. In grade 2, he was awarded 3rd Place, Certificate of Merit, in the Healthy Eating Writing Contest, and also 2nd place in the 3rd Grade, this competition was orchestrated by Reverend Floyd Flake. In the 3rd grade, he wrote a poem titled “The Veins of Friendship” for his teacher as a class work, which was sent to the American Library of Poetry and was published as one of the winners in the 2007 Poetry Collection edition “With Honors”. 

DaeQuan was awarded a Certificate of Special Recognition from the Friends for the Queens Library for participating in the St Albans Branch Library 2010 Essay Contest. For this he also received a Certificate of Merit from the Senator Malcolm A. Smith for his participation and as a special award. He was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and ended the year with a 94.58 average. The Congressional Youth Leadership Council nominated him to participate in the National Young Leaders State Conference 2011/2012.

With all of that DaeQuan was most excited about publishing his book. “What’s the Spook?”which  is now available at the publishers website, Amazon, Barnes & Noble websites and can be retrieved by Google. Tonght we are talking to DaeQuan Morrison about being a teen author.
