Wow- Tara is a dynamo...besides being a design super-star! Good grief... I LOVE this episode!! Color is my passion, and any time I get to talk color, color theory & color therapy w/another who shares the same passion....YEA! Did you know that color THEORY and THERAPY go back to ancient times? Greeks, Egyptians & Romans used color in their temples, frescos & statuary! Hippocrates also painted PATIENT ROOMS in different colors for different healing-he KNEW color impacted patients on the automatic impulse (i.e. warm colors raise body temp, cool colors lower body temp...YELLOW reduces pain & inflamation, BLUE soothes, reduces blood flow). So Hippocrates is the father of evidence-based design! A lot of this practice was stopped due to the religious beliefs at the time as this was considered "pagan" and went underground! Books recommended by Tara: Color & Light, Edwin Babbit...Color baths & chromo discs to bathe people in light to affect change. Also check out the Value of Light & Color by Dr Kate Baldwin. ****Watch for upcoming color specific shows!!!*** Tara's bio: Tara Rae Hill, ASID, is a state registered, full-scope interior designer. Before founding LittleFISH, Ms. Hill was an Associate + Senior Designer at HOK and the Director of Interiors at Stanley Beaman & Sears. She has implemented award-winning, innovative design and technical solutions for commercial and institutional interiors ranging from 5,000 sq ft to over 1 million sq ft. Her 16 years of experience includes programming, conceptual design, technical documentation, project management, and construction administration. In addition, her design experience includes product + package design, media design and working with specialty design teams such as Graphics, Media and Audio+Visual to provide her Clients a fully integrated experience within any environment. She feels strongly that the success of each project is in the details, i.e. the "soup to nuts." Ms. Hill also has significant experience regarding the science and theory of color as both a design + branding tool as well as a promoter of healing. She has conducted extensive research in evidence-based design regarding color and its profound emotional and physical impact on the human spirit. info@golittlefish.net Here's more on Little Fish Think Tank (COOL name, COOL concept!):
