    CasaVerde w/ Dr Rivkah Roth

    Hey Everyone!
What a great show today!!  I hope you all gleaned as much info about diabetes prevention, diet and warning signs.....wow.  Dr Rivkah is a natural medicine professional, author, speaker with doctorates in osteopathy, natural medicine and acupuncture.  She has lectured globally and has won numerous awards for her work.  She is the founder of the Natural Medicine Centre in Canada (outside of Toronto).  www.ndocroth.com. Dr Rivkah uses the analogy of your body to that of a car...Do you put DIESEL in a car that runs on GASOLINE?  So why do we overload our body w/diesel (or sugars, trans fats, too much sodium...you get the picture) when it runs on gas (fruits, veggies, lean meats...).  Dr Rivkah teaches PREVENTION (or avoidance) and not FIXING (i.e. fixed care) something already gone haywire. Here are some highlights:

Some "warning" signs that could be a sign of diabetes are: increased frequency of going to the bathroom, increased thirst/food consumption, tiredness, menstral issues in teen girls (that could be a sign of blood sugar being "off"), carpal tunnel syndrome, low back pain erectile dysfunction in young men 25-32 yrs old are all "signs".  Also, if you have a "beer" belly ABOVE the belly button, and it's rather hard, it can be a sign as well.  (Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!)....if you have more than 4 of these symptoms, go see your doctor or nutritionist.

Did you know that carbs and dairy turn into sugar?  (I didn't...shows how much I know about this topic).  Actually, anything that ends in "OSE" (i.e. lactose....) turns into sugar for the body to process.  GRAINS are carbs, so people who are affected by diabetes, either currently HAVE it or have the gene, should watch their GRAIN intake....Gluten is an opioid to a diabetic.  Dr Rivkah, and others in this field, suggest that your CARB intake should no be more than 30 GRAMS of carbs A DAY!  6g for breakfast (apparently mine is around 56g for a bowl of cereal, soy milk and some fruit!), 12g for lunch and 12g for dinner.  Dr Rivkah's book "At Risk? Avoid Diabetes by Recognizing Early Risk-A Natural Medicine View" goes into all of this.  If interested, click on the book cover on this page.

***eat your fruits and veggies to get your carbs...lower your grain intake!***

Dr Rivkah is available on Skype www.skype.com/ndocroth
    Twitter  www.twitter.com/avoidiabetes
    Website www.ndocroth.com

We are looking to make this a "regular" feature on the show...Ask Dr Rivkah!...if you have questions on natural healthcare/prevention, email me and we'll get Dr Rivkah on to answer!

Until next time...thank you for listening!
