Alternative Transportation Tips 1.) Learn about transportation options including EVs, public transportation, bicycling, and walking. 2.) Call your local auto dealer and tell them you won't buy a new car until it has a plug on it! 3.) Join the Electric Auto Association (EAA) http://eaaev.org 4.) Visit Plug-in America and sign the petition http://www.pluginamerica.com/ 5.) Don't buy a new vehicle until you can purchase a plug-in hybrid or full-battery electric vehicle that meets your needs and your budget.

Alternative Transportation: Myths & Facts Doesn't electricity generation cause pollution too? How do people convert to EVs? The show should enlighten your listeners that EVs are a viable - and necessary - solution to climate change and America's dependency on foreign oil. We should discuss how a vehicle that only goes 40 to 70 miles on a charge is useful for the average American. What the solution is when we need to travel further than the limited range of an EV. What we need to do to insure EVs are readily available to the public from the major car producers and other start-up companies.Bios: Bob Tregilus (Chair ATC) is a concerned global citizen who believes the path to sustainability is achieved through local activism. With a background in electro-mechanical engineering, automotive mechanics, science and community organizing, Bob is taking his enthusiasm for electric vehicles to his neighbors by founding a regional EV club and advanced mobility public advocacy group in Reno. Chuck Swackhammer (Vice chair ATC) is trying to make a living while not screwing up the planet for the next generation. By switching to electric mobility we can do that, and save ourselves a bundle on fuel bills at the same time. By adding a few solar panels on our roofs we can even make our own fuel. During the "Bees are disappearing" show Rose brought up a point that is important. It is that if there is a social or environmental issue(s) that are critical to you, take action. One person can accomplish a great deal of goodness. "Pick Your Battle" or put more positively... pick the good you want to do in the world and do it!
