Well, what was supposed to be a well-thought out, “get things done” kind of weekend turned into a myriad of unexpected surprises (some good, some not so good), a whole lotta adventure all while barely leaving my apartment…

Surely, many of you know that life can sometimes be chaotic and at times more than crazy. I believe they call this the perfect storm. I think my perfect storm right now is 100x more than your average perfect storm!

But amidst all the moving, cleanup and unpacking (or rather THINKING about unpacking but not actually being able to do it), getting locked in the garage with no way back up to my apartment, no keys, no cell phone to call for help… and a TON of things creating anxiety with regard to all of my work projects, I was able to carve out the time to

a)     have a WONDERFUL dinner with one of my very best friends in the whole world

b)     and had a great dinner meeting as we begin to transition my website maintenance to a new designer/web mistress…

And even though EVERYTHING else in my life is completely and utterly nuts, reorg, cleaning up “schtuff” at work, never ending deadlines and a stream of constant challenges I decided this weekend, that I would ALSO take on a whole new project…that was to install the base/trim on all my walls in my new apartment!

My dad would be VERY pleased and actually proud too if he were here because although I have never used a mitre saw before and have never installed trim before, I did it!! And I KNOW why I did it too! Nothing like a little self-help therapy in the form of physical labor! Because everything else is so out of control and beyond completion for me at this time… I needed and found a project that had a beginning, middle and an end. And it just FEELS good to set a goal and actually accomplish it! And so I did…I now have the bruises, cuts, scrapes, black & blue knees and aching sore muscles to prove it… but I actually finished “it” (at least ONE project) in 2.5 days! When it comes to being handy with power tools, I am TRULY, my father’s daughter and it feels good!
