Genesis Carnival Company was established in 1980 by Vernon ‘Fellows’ Williams. Vernon Williams was also a founder member of the Notting Hill Carnival in 1964 when he and a group of fellow musicians left the Colherne Pub in Earl’s Court and played music in the streets along Ladbroke Grove and Acklam Road with a large following of people dancing in the streets. This was the foundation of what the carnival street parade is today. Vernon's daughter and new leader Symone Williams speaks with CCU Radio on Thursday 31st March about the journey and her love for Carnival costume designing.
