Shabaka Thompson, CEO of the Carnival Village and originally from Trinidad & Tobago is a cultural activist and social engineer who has worked in community politics for over two decades in Canada, Trinidad, Britain and Africa. Shabaka who is also a lecturer on Carnival Arts across Britain’s schools colleagues and universities once served as the chief executive officer of the world famous Notting Hill Carnival where he contributed to the development and sustenance of African Art and all its related industries. An extremely conscious man, Shabaka’s vision is for the economic liberation of African people. His set mission is to deliver this mandate through empowerment, leadership and the development of sustainable institutions and communities throughout the African Diaspora.
