Assistive Technology & the low tech myth designed to keep disabled children from obtaining high technology devices that can open up the world to them now. Whether a child has cerebral palsy, MR, autism, muscular dystrophy, seizure disorder, AT devices of all shapes, sizes and price ranges are available to help children access their environment now. But do not count on your School District to "buy into" AT. Even the most severely disabled children can easily use AT, but also be easily denied by Districts due to subjective skewed interpretation of data that is frequently impossible to accuractely assess. State and Federal Funding, Grants and Private Foundations may provide this for free or for a small co-pay. Texas Public Utilities Commission provides this absolutely free.
