Who knew that one in every five children in America were going hungry? I know, I didn't. One in every six Americans are also going hungry. Next time you are in a room look around you, somewhere in that room a person will go to bed without food. 49 million Americans, including over 15 million children are struggling to eat, every day in America. We are the wealthiest nation in the world and yet millions of Americans go hungry.

The hunger in America is not caused by lack of food, but by scarcity of income. We throw out billions of tons of food a year, instead of feeding the hungry, because we are afraid of law suits. Nearly half of all the people on the SNAP program are children. Can you feed a child for $70 a month?

Mississippi currently has the highest percentage of population  going without food at more than 20% of its population struggling to eat. Food insecure children are 90% more likely to suffer health problems through their entire life. 4 out of 5 teacher's state children in their classroom come to school hungry. Without school programs all of these children would suffer. Without your help the face of hunger will continue to grow.
