Velonne Atkins, board director for EmpowHer Institute

EmpowHer Institute’s focus is on a holistic approach to transformation of the girl’s character, self-worth and well-being. We empower girls to discover their future through education and mentorship, and to become the leaders of tomorrow. There is as much emphasis on emotional growth, self-esteem, self-expression and problem-solving as we place on intellectual and academic achievement. Our girls find their voice and acquire the tools to carve out a future of inspired possibilities.

Angie Fisher

One song. That’s all it took for Hidden Beach Recordings CEO Steve McKeever, who launched the career of Grammy Award winner Jill Scott, to sign the next game-changing voice: Angie Fisher.
Music fans first heard Fisher’s spellbinding voice for themselves on that song, the now Grammy nominated “I.R.S.,” when it was played on Stevie Wonder’s KJLH radio in Los Angeles in June of 2014. “I.R.S.” embodies a subject everyone can relate to: struggling to make ends meet.
