Who is C. “Chekejai” Coley?
C. “Chekejai” Coley is the founder and creative art director of Designing Sistas, the soon-to-be-published magazine that features and highlights the creative works of Black women worldwide.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in radio-television and film from Temple University and a Masters of Arts in Publications Design.She has designed magazine spreads, event programs and other print publications. She was the host and producer of The Homebound Love Project, a short-run music/talk radio program that was designed to encourage community healing and cohesiveness, on WPEB 88.1fm in West Philadelphia. A portion of program was also dedicated to interviewing women in arts and design.
Chekejai is a native of Philadelphia, Pa. She studied music and humanities at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia. She studied African American images in the media while a student at Temple University and researched the impact of stereotypes surrounding African Americans in both undergrad and grad school.
