Wassup everyone! BWR had another amazing show this past Thursday when we were joined by BlogTalkRadio's own Dr. Blogstein. He hosts the infamous, "Radio Happy Hour," which can be heard every Tuesday night at 9 PM EST at blogtalkradio.com.
I have to say it was an eventful evening. There weren't really any specific topics at hand, and we just ran with it. In my honest opinion, the show seemed to fit very well for the guest: complete randomness and having a good time. Many of the listeners thought it was an interesting evening, especially w/ Doc interviewing us instead of the other way around. I must say, it may have tanked w/o Bloggy. LOL!
I honestly have no idea what it is, but he is just so dysfunctionally hyper, that you can't help but laugh. Especially when he told Matt to listen to his show now that he has all the free time in the world since he lost his job....if you can make fun over something like that, you can make fun of anything. Lord, I think my show will get beat upon when he comes back to air in January. I better be there for that one.
I was kind of surprised that the conversation went as far as it did with me saying over the air exactly why I left my previous show from BlogTalkRadio, "In the Zone." To say I was entitled to say this over the air is one thing, but it just seemed like I finally was able to tell my side of things to those listeners who were wondering what exactly caused me to relinquish control of another show I created to the co-host. The doc really worked his magic on that one.
I tried to take on this one caller, yes O, I am speaking to you LOL, and I missed out on the first shot, so I tried to get her on again. You know, the best way to let someone know we have a caller when they are on a rant is to not talk over them like I did, but tell them to shut up. Ha, even Doc tried to get the caller on. I had to have outside help. Now, that's bad. But, I have to say it is all in good fun.
Doc also mentioned about the guests he has had on his show. I can't get over some of those he had. From celebs, he has had on Warren G, Countess Vaughn who played Kim on both UPN shows, "Moesha," and "The Parkers." Recently, he had on Shirley McClaine to promote her new book, and this past Tuesday, he had on Bonnie "Eyez" Mercado from Season 2 of VH1's, "Flavor of Love." Eyez's daughter stole the show more than Eyez did. What really threw me was a guest he had on his show....a husband who claimed his wife tried to murder him. Seriously, I thought those type of guests would appear only on Oprah. Only being on BTR since February 2007, the show has already become one the most popular shows on the Internet and on iTunes.
"Radio Happy Hour" can be heard every Tuesday night, 9 PM EST at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/drblogstein. On Christmas and New Years Day, he will be having special shows that the fans have requested as their favorite moments in 2007. Be sure to check out the year in review, and tune back in for an original show January 8, 2008! Also, check out his website at www.drblogstein.com. One of the most funniest guests to have on for our final show of 2007, Dr. Blogstein was awesome, and we love to have him back on again. Maybe then, we can ask him more questions instead of asking us the stuff LOL.

This past Thursday night, hosts Matthew Preston and NaVell J. Lee had the chance to sit down and interview Suzanne Whang. Whang is best known for hosting HGTV's "House Hunters," and now the spinoff series, "House Hunters International." She also recurs as the politically incorrect Polly on NBC's hit show, "Las Vegas."
Whang, I have to say, is funny beyond belief. Whatever you do, do NOT tell her she looks like Yoko Ono. It is bad enough that this woman broke up the Beatles, but it's another to think that is actually a compliment on her behalf. Oh, and when guys tell her that they love Asian girls because of that steroetype...that's not a compliment, either. If anything...that will get a slap across the face. I loved what she had to say about people she has come across in the US where they would walk up to her, and basically speak very loudly....as if she can't understand the words that are coming out of her mouth LOL. My favorite quote of the evening: "Hey, you speak English very well. Thanks, can you speak idiot?"
Suzanne definitely let it rip. It was a no holds barred conversation. We then discussed her stand up comedy routine of "Sung Hee Park." I watched the DVD of this performance, which I believe it is also on YouTube for you fans out there, it is an absolute scream. Seriously, if you are not easily offended, you have to watch this. Everything that many people see and hear in regards to racial stereotypes is heard in the routine. And, if you cannot make fun of yourself, who can you make fun of? She definitely pushes the envelope, which you would be able to tell from her hosting duties on House Hunters. So innocent, and so pure....NOT! LOL...and then there is Polly....how can you not enjoy this character? Suzanne expressed how she loves this role because you have this character who can say such expressions that you cannot believe NBC gets away with. She even mentioned that there are times where she does ad-libbing, so some of the Polly scenes/lines, do not fully follow the script, which I just love. It just amazes me how Sung Hee Park may not have existed if Suzanne didn't just...go for it. She was so against doing a routine about racial slurs, the thing she could not stand for....but she went for it, and it paid off. She went out to Chinatown, bought a kimono, the whole thing, and she aced it. That just proves to one that you should follow your instincts, and go big.
Whang also mentioned near the end of the show about the DVD entitled, "The Secret." If you want to talk about going for the gold, try this on for size....Suzanne felt that this book was the greatest book she has ever read, that she had to get it featured on Oprah. That's right, Oprah! She called up Harpo studios, and put in her idea, and sent them a package in regards to The Secret. Two months down the line, she heard back from them again, saying Oprah loved the book! How about that? She took a flight to Africa to promote this book/DVD, and I will tell you this....do not read Chicken Soup on the plane...you don't want to have the other passengers crying along with you. LOL. She ran into this gentleman, out of the clear blue sky, sat down with Suzanne, and asked if she had heard of The Secret. It was then she found out that Oprah was doing a special show for the book.DVD in just a few days. So, she made sure she was not going to miss out on this event. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and she went for it. And she got on the show. That was an incredible feeling for her, and it just proves again you won't know what could happen unless you try.
Suzanne Whang is a very inspirational person. A public speaker, studying to be a minister, she definitely has the courage to get up and go onto the next challenge. She doesn't hold back, and takes everything head on, which is what I love about people. Another amazing guest, and another amazing show! There's more to come. Be here next week when BWR sits down with Nazanin Boniadi from "General Hospital," and Dr. Blogstein, from BlogTalkRadio's own, "Radio Happy Hour."
