    Catherine Hickland Interview Recap!

Last night on 11/29/07, my co-host Matthew Preston and I had the chance to interview Catherine Hickland. She plays Lindsay Rappaport on the ABC soap opera, "One Life to Live." It was one of the most entertaining interviews I was ever a part of. She is truly a classy, sweet, wonderful person. She had so much insight for the both of us. As two young adults, she told us that we should follow our dreams, have that determination and not to give it up.

She spoke the truth that night, and it was fantastic.

We talked about her time on "Loving" and "The City." I was surprised to hear that "Loving" was an unfriendly place to work. Especially about how people did not treat Morgan Fairchild well. THAT stunned me heavily. I was wondering why people want to disrespect a legend as Morgan?

It was great how honest she was about the shows she has done, the show she is doing now....Cat gave us wonderful insight about young inspiring actors. Determination. Promote yourself and get your face and name out there. Don't be afraid to knock on those doors, and if you get rejected by that door, don't be discouraged. Keep on knocking at other doors as well as possibly going back to where you first started. I LOVE that. Word of mouth is definitely key. She emphasized on how it is like working with the younger set on the serial. She finds them to be a joy to work with, but you can spot the ones who are gonna succeed a mile away, and the one who are nothing but immature primadonnas. Seeing it as only a paycheck compared to those who love what they do in the business is going to take you farther than anticipated.

I found it funny when we talked about Lindsay being a "couga"...oh my goodness, did I spell that right? LOL, but her story with John-Paul Lavoisier was entertaining at best, and she was so worried for him and herself because she didn't want to traumatize the boy. But, she spoke very highly of him as an actor and as a person. He grew into the role very well and has come a long way since his start in 2003.  She spoke very highly of her co-stars: Robin Strasser, Hillary B. Smith, JPL, and Michael E. Knight. She was just a wonderful person and it was amazing to do this show featuring her.

The question that I was glad that we could ask her before the show ended was how she felt about the writer's strike. She stated how sad she was that this is occurring and she has friends who are writers and they cannot get any income at the moment. She feared that this may not even end until May, if things do not get settled. That worries me a lot after she said that, because television cannot afford to be losing anything right now. Especially in the daytime arena. We all feel it is on a decline, and with this kind of beating, it definitely is not helping matters and cannot afford to lose anymore viewers than it already has. So, we all hope that this does end quickly and hopefully get back to what we love about our shows.

CAT Cosmetics...I still find it cute it is called that....starting a business is hard work, and she said had she known it was going to be that difficult, she never would done it. However, she loves fashion, she loves women, and they should feel confident about themselves and in their appearance. This is something that she can give back to the ladies. Having that fire and determination, again...determination, keeps her going.

Make sure to check out her website for CAT Cosmetics at http://www.catcosmetics.com

And so what...those 3 words she lives by, and I love those three words! And now what means you have only have one life, and you should pursue your dreams and goals while you can. And once you start accomplishing what you want....and so what? Those words come after "I LOVE YOU"..."AND SO WHAT?" Beautiful testament to live by.

I loved doing this interview, and we would love to have her back, especially when she starts her book tour come October 2008.

She was a joy to talk with, and there are more to come! So stay tuned, fellow listeners! BuzzWorthy Radio is up and running!

    First Annual Soap Cruise 2007

Hey everyone! As many of you are well aware of, I did attend the first annual Soap Cruise on the Carnival Imagination. The four days went by in such a rush, I can't believe it is now over. It was such a great time, and the turnout was wonderful. About 280 people signed up for this, and not the 30,000 people who go to Super Soap Weekend made it a lot easier for fans to actually chat with the stars and get photos, autographs, you name it.

Thursday was the meet and greet session. I arrived late on the ship, so I only got to spend maybe about an hour with the stars on the ship. I first met Julie.....and the shock didn't hit me that I was talking to her until her friend asked me, "Do you know who this is?" All I said after that was, "OMG, it's Julie Pinson!" LOL I have to say she is one the most sweetest people I have ever met. Those two could not help but pick on my necklace....don't ask LOL.

I then made my way into the Xanadu Lounge (yes, that is what it is called) and got the chance to meet Don Diamont as well. From someone who has never been to a fan event like this before, it was wonderful to see the starts actually recognize their fans and call them by name. Amazing, is what it is. Those were the only two I met the first day, but saw the other starts on the stage...except for two people.

Cameron Mathison and Alicia Minshew did not arrive until Saturday. Cam tapes on only Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and Alicia has scenes with him, obviously, so they had to fly out to Cancun that Saturday because they didn't want to miss it. Also, you may notice there are people who attended the cruise that were not mentioned. Jacob Young and Nadia Bjorlin were aboard the cruise. HAD Cameron kept going on Dancing with the Stars, Jacob would have replaced him, and Nadia goes out with Brandon Beemer, so the rest you can figure out.

Friday was Celebrity Bingo. I swear, if they were not daytime actors, they could pass as comedians. I never heard the word "F*&^K" used so much in a matter of a one hour span by these people. It just made it funnier...at least it made bingo interesting. Austin Peck made his way to our table, and just sat there with us as Bingo was still going on....yeah, you think he was bored? IT'S BINGO! LOL We had probably about an hour to kill, and that hour was spent on picture taking.

Saturday, no major events happened except for the breakfast, which I did not attend b/c I was asleep, and Q&A with Cameron and Alicia that evening. BOY, do I have a story for you in regards to this! That comes later. But, during the Q&A, my friends knew how much I crush on Lish, so they tried to get me up there, and basically drew Michael Gold's attention (Mike put all of this together, btw), and I got called up. I was just standing right next to them....and I had my own groupies cheering me on. Maybe I could be on TV, but that is beside the point. Lish gave me a hug and everything, she is such a sweetheart. Cameron I didn't get to talk to until the next day, and he is REALLY that crazy. He is just funny...and you know how they say they are shorter in person? No, he's not.

Sunday morning we had the acting out a scene with the actor of your choice. I never seen anything so comical. The one where I really found hilarious was a scene where Victor Newman and Kay Chancellor had a love child and that love child was Drucilla Winters. Who played Drucilla, you ask? None other than Christian LeBlanc. He had on Julie's purple sweater to make it look like hair, he was taking off the jewelry....you had to be there for something like that. Don doing his impersonation of Victor was true to form. I don't know what scene it was, but I remember that Christian basically was at the end of the stage, and he was translating the story in Spanish. I don't think many of his words were actual Spanish words, but it was passable. Comical, yet passable.

Sunday afternoon was Soap Trivia and a special Q&A period. The Q&A was actually something that piqued my interest in particular that day. A fan had asked who do the stars feel when people say bad things about them on message boards...as in do they take it to heart, what goes in their head, etc. Austin Peck was the first to answer, and he said that it sometimes does bother him to see discouraging remarks...there was something that had to deal with him being called a "monkeyhead" or something. It had monkey in it, and Alicia talked about what she went through when she took over the role of Kendall. And those people from off the street, telling her she will never be Kendall, or could take the place of Sarah Michelle Gellar, how she needs to eat a sandwich, etc. Winsor mentioned what happened when he took over as Thorne. How the fans picketed...and he was hated. Julie Pinson even said that it upsets her at times b/c, even though she knows she is only playing a character, she feels Billie is a part of her b/c she is playing Billie. Jacob Young, another one, had people tell him that he will never be a Jonathan Jackson when he took over the role of Lucky. To me, that really took guts to actually say that to all of us in that room about how they feel about that. I commend them for that.

After that event ended, we had pics taken with Alicia and Cam. After that, there was a cocktail party held in the Lounge where we all just mingled and had a blast. Austin Peck is really funny in person, Tyler was really quiet the entire night, Christian is....well, we cannot put it into words, but he is that LOL. They are all just a fantastic group of people, and it was a lot of fun to hang out with them, and talk just to talk, not even about their shows, in particular. But, it was one hell of a trip, I'll tell ya that.

As you can see this is the shortened version of my days away at sea. I will be doing a show in regards to this next Wednesday on BuzzWorthy Radio, so make sure you check that out. Also, in the Picture thread, see some of the pics taken from the trip!

    Adios!
