Trained in life purpose, life and career coaching through the Life Purpose Institute, meeting and event planning through UNC-Charlotte’s Continuing Education professional program and with life and professional experience in self-advocacy and independent living skills, Monica has been providing coaching, mentoring and motivation for most of her life personally and professionally. BUTTERFLYWHEEL Life Transition Coaching, Etc. was formed in 2008 after years of trying to figure out a way to make the most difference in the lives of others and her own life at the same time. Learning the delicate balance between consistently challenging herself and realizing her body’s limitations, she can teach you how to become more self-aware, confident and independent regardless of your level of abilities or symptoms. Monica has lived a fulfilling and rewarding life from a wheelchair since birth and dealt with depression with a wry sense of humor since her teens. Through BUTTERFLYWHEEL Life Transition Coaching, Etc., Monica coaches people facing life, health and career transitions with and without disabilities or chronic illness. Through the process of life transition coaching, she takes her clients from a state of confusion and feelings of powerlessness and helps them shift their life’s endless possibilities into reality—with or without a disability or chronic illness in the mix. In addition, Monica is a former reporter continuously looking for new ways to use the written word to inspire and educate. Through BUTTERFLYWHEEL Life Transition Coaching, Etc., Monica also provides disability awareness & “person-first language” training to all age groups, self advocate mentoring talks on a variety of independent living topics, motivational speaking to groups with or without a disability focus, ADA/accessibility consulting to public entities and tips for planning disability-friendly gatherings regardless of size and purpose.
