"You look good...for a darkskin girl."
"I thought you were stuck up!"
"What are you?"
"Why do you talk white?"
"You mean, you don't speak Spanish?"
Have you ever heard these before? Expressions or questions like these have been haunting women in our society for years. They are not allowed to be themselves, love who they are, or embrace their natural beauty. If you don't believe us, the next time you walk into a store, locate the "beauty" section. Then, walk a few steps and you'll notice there's an ethnic beauty section and a Hispanic/Latino beauty section. Possibly an Asian one too. Do you notice which one we didn't mention?
Many people criticize women for wearing weaves/extensions, getting tattoos or piercings, or taking extreme measures to be seen by men or other people. It's easy to say they shouldn't but how can they survive in a society that makes them feel like they have to go along to get along?
In an effort to promote transformation, Butterfly Evolution wants to know what experiences women have had and are currently having with loving the person God created. Additionally, how can women overcome the challenges that come along with what they have been born and blessed with?
