Univ. of Tennessee Procurement Technical Assistance Center assists businesses in competing successfully in federal, state and local government contracting. The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services has provided these services since 1986. PTAC is funded, in part, by the U.S. Department of Defense and is administered through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency. Funded by the US Economic Development Administration, The University of Tennessee EDA University Center (UTUC) works to generate economic growth in Tennessee through assistance to existing business and industry and assistance to communities in improving their economic competitiveness. The UTUC leverages the resources at the University of Tennessee and its partners to help firms and their workers improve productivity by applying innovation and new technologies. The UTUC targets assistance efforts toward small businesses and businesses in economically distressed areas of Tennessee. The Center also considers requests to provide assistance and services to non-distressed areas, thereby maintaining a statewide service delivery commitment. In addition to business and industry, the UTUC assists community and regional organizations in their economic development efforts, including job creation and retention, leadership development, and community capacity building training and assistance.
