TEI 124: Business design for product managers

    in Business

Global Product Management Talk is pleased to bring you the next episode of...
The Everyday Innovator with host Chad McAllister, PhD.
The podcast is all about helping people involved in innovation and managing products become more successful, grow their careers, and STANDOUT from their peers.
About the Episode: Product managers and innovators want more influence in an organization so they can better create value for customers. Without influence, we can’t build support for our ideas and convince others to help us. Influence also allows us to be more strategic in our work, which is the same thing executive leaders want from product management. When I share that this podcast and my training helps product managers become product masters, increasing influence is the key factor involved for the product manager. Part of the journey to mastery is thinking more strategically and more in terms of value not only to customers but to the organization as a whole. This means moving from involvement in the design of products to involvement in the design of businesses.
And that is exactly what today’s guest is here to talk with us about — thinking of business design through the lens of product management and innovation. My guest is Jay Peters, Managing Director for PARK USA. PARK is one of the leading experts in the management of design and innovation. They consult, coach and educate on how to maximize the value of design.
Product managers and innovators learn about four areas of Design Value from the interview:
More profit, More brand equity, More innovation, and Faster change.

IMN NPL Podcast Series-NPL/RPL Pricing & Market, Kelleher-MountainView Financial

    in Finance

There are many ways investor price NPLs & RPLs.  Some have models that are simple and straight forward and other models are very sophisticated that produce probabilities on several outcomes based on a database of assumptions.
As with any other investment, trying to solve for the price/value of non-performing mortgages is solving for an expected value problem.   In today’s market, many are surprised to realize how liquid non-performing and re-performing loans are and how tightly they are priced, for example a lot of market participants assigning basically the same value to them.  The value of the NPL or RPL is the net present value of the forecasted cash flow from the NPL/RPL
Joining the podcast today is Mike Kelleher Vice President of MountainView Financial Solutions.  Mike assists clients with the valuation, sale and purchase of residential whole loan and mortgage servicing rights portfolios. Mike previously worked on MountainView’s trading desk, where he provided analytic and transaction process expertise that helped loan sale advisory clients to execute trades. Prior to joining MountainView’s trading desk, Mike spent three years working with MountainView’s bond and whole loan valuation team as a Pricing Analyst and three years at Clayton Fixed Income Services as a Credit Risk Analyst.

Ep. 40: Guardians Of The Economy - Fed, Jobs and the Avocado Market

    in Finance

This week, with the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy," we're looking at those men and women who guard our financial galaxy.  That is, the good people at the Federal Reserve.  The Fed held interest rates steady at its last meeting, as expected.  But rates are looking to move up in the near future.  We'll preview what's in store for monetary policy over the next few months.
We'll also reveal the latest jobs data and preview what's coming up on Wall Street, including inflation data and earnings from Disney.
Meanwhile, we'll take our usual tour of some out of the way planets in the financial universe.  We've got a Google co-founder building a secret airship.  We've got a museum dedicated to some of the worst business decisions of all time.  We've got a legendary band suing the namesake of its most famous song.  And we've got a couple of markets that have gotten out of control lately.  Hint: Guacamole might start to get a lot more expensive.
