In bringing up and educating my five children here in New York City ‘s public schools, I was constantly aware of this problem.
    One major factor that prompted me to start this charity was the pro bono work of my late husband, an attorney. He was an inspiration to me since he was always giving legal advice to poor families and representing them at little or no charge.
