Passive

- usually associated when the job search isn't urgent

- you are only using a few avenues to look for jobs

- you aren't trying to network with people

- applying to every job you find, but not following up

Active

- you are looking for more avenues for jobs

  - friends, company sites, classifieds, Monster, LinkedIn Groups, organizations, church, school events,

- you are building your network

- you make it easy for people to help you

  - you have as many informational interviews as you can

  - you network into companies by sheer number of people you know
