Where they could and could not eat, walk, shop.  Connie realizes that things MUST CHANGE.  These events sparks a movement in her town and region.  Changes are coming to Connie's town, and her family is excited and a little worried because the people were so vicious then and many are still that way now.  As for Connie, she just want to sit at the lunch counter and eat a banana split like everyone els.
