Buckminster Fuller became larger than life in his lifetime. His extraordinary written legacy and endless inventiveness (not just the geodesic dome) stand as exceptional individual accomplishments. And he belived in the power of each individual. He referred to himself as an average man, not because of false modesty but because he was very proud to be just like everyone else - with their same infinite potential. Though he is mostly known for his invention of the geodesic dome structure, which he patterned on the forms of viruses, he considered himself first and most importantly a humanitarian. His efforts, through writing and lecturing extensivly, were aimed at helping humanity understand how to survive on 'spaceship earth' with grace and dignity for all.
