Bridge2Unity

This show is created to explore any concepts that our paths lead us to. I may not agree with all that I explore but I will do so with respect and humanity. There is only the limits that we set on ourselves.

    How to Find "Real" Unity

Unity begins with a real conversation with you.

    1. What do you believe?
    2. Where did you learn it?
    3. Do you want to learn something different?
    4. Are you willing to step out of all you have learned to know the truth?
    a

The following can happen in any combination they wish.
They may all be talked about in one conversation or take a long time to
talk about just one line. This is a personal journey for you to decide.

Once you are willing to explore the possibility of unity you may want to consider these questions:

    Family:
    1. What did they teach you about other cultures?
    2. How do they interact with other cultures?
    3. If you dated someone from another culture what would happen?
    4. What if you had children with someone from another culture?

    Circle of friends:
    1. What do they look like?
    2. What religion are they?
    3. Why did they become your friends?
    4. What would happen if you befriended other races?

    Religion:
    1. What does your religion teach you about others?
    2. Does it send you the message to embrace others?
    3. What do you view religions role in this world when it
    comes to other cultures?

    Community:

    1. Do they treat each other with compassion?
    2. Are the youth taken care of and have a chance for a future?
    3. Are there stereotypes within it that need to be let go of?
    4. Are you harming each other and preventing each other from have a good life?
    5. What does your community tell you about their desire to unite with others?

    Other cultures:
    1. What do you know about them?
    2. Is what you know based on fact or stereotype?
    3. Do you want to learn the truth?

    World:

What does the world tell you of it's true desire for us to unite?

To be united does not mean to be the same. It means that we have an understanding of each other based on each others truths. These truths are multi-layered and take time to learn. Unity is not standing and holding hands for change. It is sitting down and looking each other in the eye and asking them, “Tell me who you are?”
    Do you want real unity?

    Why I created Bridge2unity Show

Many know me because I am the Producer of blogtalkradio.com/redtownradio and blogtalkradio.com/hiddenfromhistory. The majority of the time I am behind the screens doing the setup of the show, running the switchboard, picking out the music and searching for and pre-interviewing guest. I will continue to do this.

I also have many other interests in my life. I love having conversations with interesting people. They don't have to be anything other than a common person with an opinion or someone we may know well. Who they are to the world is not what I am seeking. While I do hope that many will enjoy this show, I don't expect to have large numbers. That is something that will not drive my decisions one way or the other.  All I want to do is have real conversations and connection.

So, don't look for names that you know because that may or may not be so. It might have been a great conversation I had on facebook that I created a show out of. It might be a myspace bulletin or blog that I wanted to explore.

Sometimes the reason why it exist is as interesting as what exist. I am hoping this will be true with this show as well.

I have created a myspace page to go with this show at myspace.com/bridge2unity.

So, I hope you join me but just know that there are no limits to the worlds I will travel in. There is no preconceived destination. I just want the conversation to exist.

    Join me?

    Nell

How the Tameika Pope came to exist

I was listening to August 1, 2009 called Jonathan Pope Live Show w/ Tameika Pope . The show I listened to was on Racism in America Today. This subject is always something that catches my attention.

Within that show was a cometary by my guest Tameika Pope. I was very impressed with her open spirit and willingness to examine her inner dialog to find out what her true thought were telling her. This is something that I believe that we must all do to find real unity. So, I asked her if she would come on the show to speak to me on the topic of Unity. I am happy that she agreed.

Here is the show she does with her husband if you would like to check it out:

Welcome to the Jonathan Pope Live Show w/ Tameika Pope. This is a show that encourages thought, expression, and the exchange of ideas and perspectives. We will cover any and everything that pertains to American cultural living.

See the blog "Finding Real Unity" for the outline of questions. This is the format I will use for the series of shows on this subject.

In addition to his vast repertoire of original compositions, Strider also incorporates covers of his favorite songs, done Strider style. Strider exhibits an intricate, mesmerizing playing style accompanied by evocative lyrics and melodic vocals. His 40 plus years as a musician has resulted in music that can be described as alternative folk rock, a harmonious blend of myriad genres, a sound that is uniquely Joseph Strider.
Joseph’s heritage is as much a part of his music as it is a part of his being. He is a staunch supporter of the non-profit organization Rez Aid, based in Pennsylvania, volunteering his time and talent to assist in efforts to bring food, life essentials, and monetary donations to the shamefully mistreated Indigenous Peoples of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
