On September 11, 2012 Mr. Sims came to our class as a guest speaker and he gave us an introduction to his daily life as a police officer. Mr. Sims is a SC state transport police and he works on the highway most of the time. His job is to watch 18 wheeler trucks for unusual acts that may led to drug smuggling around the country. He is a college graduated. When he came out of college he had a minor degree in history and business and ministration. During his career he has arrested 6 people and 5 of them were on the highway patrol job. He was first in the army before he became a police officer. For a couple of year he was on the SWAT team here in South Carolina. He also informed the class that you are required to have a 4 year degree to either become a police officer or a FBI secret agent. You also have to have a clean record and not a lot of wreaks and good credit. His job is also very dangerous and he answered our questions about the craziest and scariest times of his job as a police officer. He has been through a lot and he works hard to keep our state safe and residents’ safe from dangerous people, and we should appreciate our police.
