Marketing is your train's engine driving your business. Without marketing, the train doesn't leave the station. It takes a long time for the engine to get a heavy train started, but once it does, it gains momentum. Little faster, little faster with each marketing effort. Each postcard. Each press release. Each direct mail letter. Every phone call. Every networking meeting. Each one of these marketing efforts contributes to generating leads, requests for proposals and interest in the companies products and services.
Marketing sets the goals. Marketing builds awareness. Marketing generates buzz.
Sometimes sales is confused with marketing. Marketing doesn't close! Marketing opens. Sales does the close. Sales converts the leads. Marketing generates the leads. They have to work hand in hand, but it starts with marketing. Marketing generates the leads.
Marketing persuades. Marketing promotes. Marketing promises.
How are you getting your engine running?
