Dr. Carole Petiet, clinical psychologist, registered nurse and accomplished athlete discusses her book - _The Day I Died - Brain Trauma and the journey back_. She will talk about her recovery process from a massive, near-fatal injury while ski racing with her daughter. Thie healing involved initially learning to cope with physical pain; and then her rehabilitation process involving integrative medicine and brain plasticity.

Her book becomes an instruction manual laced with the emotions and activities that are familiar to all of us in the head-injury community: humor, acceptance, gratitude, mystery and miracles. She has spent 4 decades helping others, and she will discuss her own arduous task of trauma recovery. She has the advantage of being able to look at her own journey both personally and professionally during the healing process.

It's awesome that the recovery process is so comprehensive, but all the aspects of the initial physical injury, personal relationships with friends and family, and the brain functions that change over time must be integrated into the consciousness of the person. It is an arduous journey, but Dr. Carole tells her story with the goal of helping to guide others on their own particular journeys.
