Representing "us" will be Nathan Gates who was the passenger and the only suvivor of the automobile when it was crushed by an AMTRAK train earlier this year. He was looking forward to a soccer scholarship to enter college. His outlook has radically changed because, in the accident, his ankle was destroyed. He was briefly unconscious, but the surgeons specifically gave him drugs to prolong the coma while he recovered. He was in the hospital for 2 months; but now he lives with his parents in the family home. His mother is Kay Fielding, and she will represent "them" because although she takes care of him and monitors his progress every day, she is still a member of the outside world. She will discuss the difficulties she sees in the altered circumstances for each of them, since her son's accident, both for him and for her.
