Particularly critical in evaluating and treating patients sustaining acquired brain injury, is the recognition that "all brain injuries are not equal!" Having followed many children, some from as early as birth, the developmental/ neurodevelopmental consequences of brain injury become apparent with developmental progression over time. Tragically, they are often diagnosed as presenting with a "psychiatric" or "behavioral" (e.g., anxiety, ADHD, impulse control disorder, etc.). The most common symptoms observed subsequent to any brain injury is that of disruption of age appropriate self-regulation of behavior! Many patients, child, adolescent, and adult, frequently do not receive optimal early intervention, ongoing monitoring or therapy support,
"Understanding the Logic" of the presentation of symptoms of the individual patient is critical to optimal intervention and outcome for the individual patient!
