If you have ever partied like a rock star then you probably have been to ALA and know that librarians can party. Yes, you heard me. I may be biased, as when I meet a librarian (or a teacher, for that matter) I exclaim, "My PEEPS!" like a goofball. But I digress. The ALA midsummer conference is the time when all the gigantic and prestigious awards are bestowed and the Newbery and Caldecott winners give their big speeches. It's a celebration of children's books by the people who love them the most. And then there are the parties...oops. Digressing. Anyway, on today's show, I will be interviewing New Orleans native and storyteller extraordinaire, Dianne de las Casas. She travels to Asia for month-long performance gigs, writes a newsletter that goes out to 14,000 dedicated subscribers, and knows how to work a crowd. We'll talk about how to promote oneself, how to tell a story, and maybe even do a little walk around the ALA aisles and see what we can discover. Stay tuned for an exciting show!
