I know what hunts you. - Dialogue from “The Fellowship of the Ring” written by Capricorn, J.R.R. Tolkien Capricorn is truly a sign unto itself. They are born into this world knowing that NOTHING in life is free; there is a price to pay for everything. Unlike the sign previous to them that lives on “dumb luck” the mantra of the Capricorn is an unfaltering reliance on good old fashioned elbow grease with an unbreakable focus on the “goal”. Being ruled by the planet deemed the “great malefic”, it’s not a shock that the Capricorn has a hyper-realistic view of life that is always sobering with a tendency to see the glass as “half empty”. In his foreword to “The Fellowship of the Ring” J.R.R. Tolkien states that by the year 1918 (the writer was on the verge of his Saturn Return at the age of 26) he had lost all but one of every single childhood and college friend due to the ravages of World War I. It is no wonder that on the eve of World War II, where England would be the first victim of Nazi Aggression from the constant nightly bombs of the Blitzkreig, Tolkien would begin writing his epic “The Lord of the Rings” which would begin with the sense of an ever approaching, all encompassing force of evil whose sheer purpose was annihilation. With an opener like that, why bother with a strategy for defense, let alone survival? The Capricorn author shows us that there is always hope if one can adhere to focusing on one’s goals no matter how hard the obstacles in between. Amazingly, the hope of Middle Earth’s survival depends upon the very slow but hard working toil of a few children of earth who literally must ascend a mammoth mountain to its very height or in non literary terms: a day in the life of a Capricorn! But Capricorn isn’t ALL about toil and trouble. That’s just the first part of their usually long lived lives. Capricorn is the only sign of the 12 where life literally goes in reverse! I reworded the title to the film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” as “The Allegory of the Capricorn”. Capricorn and even more so Capricorn Rising people have no childhood – they are 45 yr olds in the body of a child who must work at an extremely early age or play parent to their parent. They are very serious little children who have no time to skip, joke around or be in any way spontaneous. High school years are probably the height of their hellish time, and the college years are no picnic either. It is when all the other signs fall apart at “The Saturn Return” at ages 28-31 that the Capricorn comes into their own stride, and with each year afterwards life gets easier, lighter, and funnier. Along with this life reversal role, Saturn rules the bones and skin, so the Capricorn literally gets better looking with age, getting more and more distinguished looking as their bone structure and skin are made sexier with time!. So wear some sensible shoes, it’s going to be a steep climb on Friday @ 8PM!
