Pisces: The Universally Spiritual Ascetic or The Self Deceptive Addict?

“And I’m Talking to myself Talking to myself On my own Radio A Universal Radio.” - Nina Hagen, Piscean “I am the Alpha and the Omega” - Jesus Christ, Piscean We have reached our last stop on our zodiacal journey – not only is Pisces the last sign of the zodiac, it’s the last of the water signs, the last of the mutable signs, and most intriguingly, the last of the karmic signs! The world is a harsh and often too shocking a place for this most sensitive of signs. I liken every Piscean to a “psychic anemone” where their intuitive radar is always on and many times they will pick up and be swayed (and often frayed) by any kind of emotional energy in their immediate atmospheres. Because of this acute emotional sensitivity, “escape” is a very real need for the Piscean; how they choose to escape determines how evolved or unevolved they are. I consider Pisces’ planetary ruler, Neptune, by FAR the most challenging of all the planets. Neptune’s domain is anything NONtangible and NONrealistic and it’s strongest allure is having one feel the need to completely lose oneself and become united with “the other”. Pisces Icon from Brad Kronen's "Welcome to the Zodiac" Series

    Pisces Icon

    From Brad Kronen’s

“Welcome to the Zodiac” Series Photobucket
For the last of the zodiac's signs, I will be using and discussing Christian images. I am in NO way saying Christianity is the only way to go as far as the choices one can make with the path of spirituality. I will be taking direct quotes from my piece "Jesus Was A Pisces??? The Natal Chart of Christ" which can be read in its entirety at either www.bradkronen.webs.com or www.moli.com/bradkronen and I'll open with that piece's preface:

I will preface this by saying that God is every religion. I am Christian in nature and was raised a Catholic, but I believe that every religion leads to one universal source and thus all religions are equal in God's eyes. This piece is a combination of a number of things but the most controversial pairing for many will be the joining of faith with history.

Within this piece I broke down each of the planetary placements from when the Star of Bethlehem was a fully formed Star of David on March 2nd, 5 B.C. and the B.C. by the way stands for "Birthday of Christ".) My analysis of the placement of Christ's Uranus and Sun reflect my thoughts on the sign of Pisces, it's Icon, and our progression into the future as a civilization as an integrated whole.

    14. Uranus: 12 Degrees Pisces in the 12th House

"Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men." - Mark 1:16-17

"Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." - Acts 5:32-38

Uranus is a futuristic planet and we must look in the future after Christ walked the earth to see the full effect of how this planet is symbolized in his chart. Let's start by going as far in the future as we can - to the modern day. How do modern day Christians identify themselves?
By the "Ichthys", which is what the letters are in Greek, meaning "fish", the symbol for the sign and house ruler of Christ's Uranus - Pisces. Today, this symbol is used almost in rebellion as a reaction to a world that although enhanced with technology, has seemed to increasingly diminish through mankind's selfishness and gluttony. Therefore it makes complete sense that Christ's Uranus, the planet of rebellion and individuality, or how one sets oneself apart from the norm as well as the planet ruling the computer age and technology itself is His identifying symbol 2,000 years after His death.
If we move to the future but just after Christ's death and the first decades beyond, the apostles and their early followers had it far from easy. The Romans feared the early Christians since they were gaining in numbers at a frighteningly fast rate, not only because they posed the possible threat of revolt but because many of them defied Rome through the rebellious act of not paying taxes. Persecution was the best way to stamp out this meddlesome fire, or so the Romans thought. In the face of imminent death, the early Christians held secret meetings underground in the Catacombs and in other unsuspecting hiding spots. How a new recruit of Christianity walking very nervously through the streets of Rome at night would even find these highly secretive gatherings was by the very simple yet effective ichthys or fish symbol etched either on the ground or on the upper portion of a wall near the ceiling. The fish was the best symbol to use as an identification marker since the most widely known facts about Jesus in the years after his death were literally "fish" oriented.
Most of the original 12 apostles (Uranus is in the 12th sign of the Zodiac, in the 12th house, and the Zodiac itself is comprised of 12 signs and 12 Houses overall) were fisherman and one of his best remembered miracles was by feeding the multitudes who had come to his Sermon on the Mount by increasing the fishes and loaves. A miracle for the masses, another of aspect of Uranian domain since it rules overall groups of people and masses at large.

    17. But What About The Sun itself???

On the day of Christ's birth, March 2nd, 5 B.C. at 1:59AM, the Sun was in the 12th House at the 11th degree of Pisces. The traits of a person whose Sun is in Pisces are as follows:
    - Heightened sensitivity to others, having almost empathic qualities of sensing the feelings or pain of others.
    - Able to identify with the underdog or downtrodden and thus can be very self sacrificing for themselves yet extremely giving to those in need.
    - A sense of feeling "connected" to the universe at large.
    - A spirituality that many times will not be under the domain of one set organized religion, rather will be of the theme of unconditional love for all.
    - An inherent awareness that there is much more to this world than just what we can see, an inherent belief in various realms of existence.

Traits that Jesus very much embodied when He walked this Earth.

Pisces Song of the Day from Brad Kronen's "Welcome to the Zodiac" Series

    Pisces Song of the Day

    From Brad Kronen’s

    “Welcome to the Zodiac” Series

And so we come to the very end of the road with our last and final water and mutable sign - Pisces.

"Other-wordliness" is a staple diet for the Piscean because reality and this world we live in can be way too technicolor harsh for the sign that is about unconditional love, universality, and complete spiritualism.  Every Pisces has the need to escape from reality on a rather regular basis and every Pisces does escape, their method of approach is what is critical.  Neptune rules this "out there" sign and even describing Neptune's domains are hard because it is the "boundary-less" planet that loves complete submersion into fantasy, illusion, deception, film, high brow art, religous secularism, daydreams, and most lethaly through  addictions of every way imaginable.  The force of Neptune is to completely lose oneself into the "other" so that in some way the boundaries are so hazy you don't know where you ended and where the "other" began.  With addictions of any kind it's easy to see the allure but that is for the unevolved Piscean.  The evolved Piscean recognizes his/her spaciness and sense of being out of touch with such things as social decorum, technology, and for the most part one on one dialague, and accepts that she will be in her own world a lot of times and that's OK.

What they do while in that other world is what makes them so special.  And my biggest musical influence growing up is o so special because I give this lead singer and her band credit for making me "me" in many ways.  Growing up in a cow town in middle of nowhere Connecticut, I still can remember the first time I saw an image of Missing Persons and oddly enough it was from Peter Jennings.  The year was 1982 and the nightly news was on reporting about the new medium of the "music video" and how its popularity was spreading with lightning speed.  I remember looking up from my homework to see a reporter and then a 5 second clip from the video "Words" by Missing Persons.  I can't remember anything after that. Seeing Dale Bozzio's cementedly fixed legs in 6 inch plastic spikes with a plexiglass box over her hips while her plexiglass bra'd torso moved back and forth so that I could see that she not only had white flyby hair with 2 massive streaks of blue and fuschia on the left side of her head but that she also had an extremely thin braided 2 1/2 foot tail of hair that flew in a side to side hypnotic wave with the rest of her compact frame - altered me permanently.  This was MY band and MY music - not something I was told to listen to by either of my older brothers. And as evolution would have it, when I became Brad the astrologer, I actually "looked" at the content my band's songs and they are so Piscean!  The song of songs by them is called "Words" and it really has nothing to do with verbal communication!  If Pisces had it their way, they really wouldn't talk unless absolutely necessary.  Words for them are a way to just get them more confused and distracted versus just being in synch with their natural intuitive radar.  This is their anthem and how ironic that I am the motor mouth sign of the zodiac that this one should be my calling card of identity.  But we Geminis love duality.  The second, and yes there is a second song is called "Windows" where it is basically a Piscean wondering why she can't just stay in daydream land and watch the world and all it's stuff and such just go by her as she watches from the psychic window in her mind.  The need to be fully submerged with the other comes through loud and clear in the words - "Without my window, who am I?"  And the third (you got it 3 MP songs because it's my freaking show - sticking out tongue!) is about not necessarily having the details down in life (that's Virgo, Pisces' polar opposite's job)  and not "even know the time of day" but still carrying along using ones intuitive feelers to guide until you know you'll "leave when it's my time to go."  You probably are all majorly rolling your eyes at this point for Grampa giving you his ancient 80's music overkill, but without Missing Persons  who knows what Brad would have turned out to be?  Hmmmmmm.

    "Words"

    Do you hear me?
    Do you care?
    Do you hear me?
    Do you care?

My lips are moving and the sound's coming out
The words are audible but I have my doubts
That you realise what has been said

You look at me as if you're in a daze
It's like the feeling at the end of the page when you realise
You don't know what you just read.

    What are words for?
    When noone listens anymore
    What are words for
When noone listens what are words for
    When noone listens
There's no use talking at all.

I might as well go up and talk to a wall
Coz all the words are having no effect at all
It's a funny thing.. am I all alone?

Something has to happen to change the direction
What little filters though is giving you the wrong impression
"it's a sorry state" I say to myself

    What are words for
    When noone listens anymore
    What are words for
When noone listens what are words for
    When noone listens
There's no use talking at all.

    Do you hear me?
    Do you care?
    Do you hear me?
    Do you care?

Let me get by over your dead body
    Hope to see you soon
    When will I know?
Doors three feet wide with no locks open
Walking always backwards in faces of strangers
    Time could be my friend
But it's less then nowhere now....

Pursue it any further and another thing you'll find
Not only are they deaf and dumb they could be going blind
    noone notices
I think I'll dye my hair blue.

Media overload bombarding you with action
It's getting near impossible to cause distraction
someone answer me.. before I pull the plug.

    What are words for
    When noone listens anymore
    What are words for
When noone listens there's no use talking at all.

    Do you hear me?
    Do you care?

    "Windows"

    Something feels so strange tonight
It's not wrong but it's just not right
Some hidden complications fill me with hesitation
And it gets so dark in here
I can't see through doubts and fears
Walled in by expectation I need a deviation

a change in perspective alternative view
to help me see clearly- observe something new

All i want is a window to look through
All i need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that i wanna do anyway

All i want is a window to look through
All i need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that i really wanna do anyway

    Outside the world is dangerous
it's hard to find someone to trust
    Fills me with reservation
    Drives me into hibernation
    I watch what's going on
but i don't want to belong
    leave my my introspection
    safely behind protection

All i want is a window to look through
All i need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that i wanna do anyway

All i want is a window to look through
All i need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that i really wanna do anyway

Looking through windows at the world
Looking through windows at the world
Safe behind windows from the world
Safe behind windows from the world
Watching my window world go by
Watching my window world go by
Without my window who am i?
Without my window who am i?

All i want is a window to look through
All i need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that i wanna do anyway

All i want is a window to look through
All i need is a window to look through
It's the only thing that i really wanna do anyway

    "Destination Unknown"

    Life is so strange
    When you don't know
    How can you tell
    Where you're going to?
You can't be sure of any situation
    something could change
    and then you won't know

Where do we go from here?
It seems so all too near
Just as far beyond as i can see
I still don't know what this all means to me

I don't know where to go
I don't know what to do
And i don't even know the time of day
I guess it doesn't matter anyway

    life is so strange
    Destination unknown
    When you don't know
    your destination
    Something could change
    It's unknown
    and then you won't know
    Destination Unknown

    When will my time come?
Has it all been said and done?
I know i'll leave when it's my time to go
Til then i'll carry on with what i know

    life is so strange
    Destination unknown
    When you don't know
    your destination
    Something could change
    It's unknown
    and then you won't know
    Destination Unknown

    Life is so strange
    Life is so strange

Last stop on the “Welcome to the Zodiac” Express!!! Everyone out folks!!

Well! We have reached our last stop on our zodiacal journey – not only is Pisces the last sign of the zodiac, it’s the last of the water signs, the last of the mutable signs, and most intriguingly, the last of the karmic signs!

The evolved Piscean will take her Neptunian influenced need to escape the harsh realities of the modern world by losing herself in a number of ways:

    -        The highest forms of artistic beauty (ballet, opera, poetry, Impressionist/Post Modern Painting, Kabuki Theater)

    -        By expressing their unique gift of empathic sympathy by spending time in any of the Piscean 12th house “institutions” – hospitals, prisons, orphanages, asylums and any kind of charity/non profit organizations.

    -        By feeling connected to the universe through mystical spirituality that may (but most times does not) involve organized religion.**

**For those Fish Kids who can’t separate the 2, many will go hardcore and take organized religion to the EXTREME by spending some portion of time in a set up that is unique to the Piscean 12th house called the “cloister” – a group of people who separate themselves  from the rest of society in a communal living environment that by its sheer isolation and all encompassing structure of life is a sure fire way to either make you see EVERYTHING you do as an act of God, like a monastery, convent, kibbutz, or bashram OR gives you a complete brain rinse and makes you forget EVERYTHING you ever knew such as receiving a paycheck, monogamy, or any kind of independent thought whatsoever!!! Examples of the latter: Jim Jones’ Compound in Guyana, Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas and last but certainly not least to enter their own “special” kingdom – Heaven’s Gate (umm, the Nike people).

Appealing as the cloister may be, for the  unevolved Piscean that is way too much effort and thus escape will be found in any outlet that is the quickest and easiest, and o yeah, will eventually be addicted to: alcohol, drugs, video games, soap operas, you get the picture..

Pisces Fun Fact: For those of you who are confused by the last name of famous Pisceans listed above and are asking yourselves “Wasn’t Jesus’ birthday December 25th?” Please read my writing piece called “Jesus Was A Pisces??? The Natal Chart of Christ”.

Aquarius: The Fiercest of True Friends or The Obnoxiously Individualistic Iconoclast?

"Some people go to priests; others to poetry; I to my friends." - Virginia Woolf, Aquarian We have now come to the last of the air signs and man’s intellectual breezes first began with the mental curiosity and Mercurial speed of Gemini, then lifted from solitary thoughts to the charming but pristine relationship musings of Libra and now the zephyrs of the human mind aspire to the heights of rationality – the futuristic and utopian mental skies of the Aquarius! Aquarius, along with Scorpio is by far THE most misunderstood sign in the zodiac. At least with Scorpio, their unevolved or bad traits are what actually do come to the general populace’s mind but most people can’t even properly categorize what element Aquarius even belongs to let alone any of the personality traits assigned to them………...and this includes people born under the sign of quirkiness, Aquarians themselves! (For those of you who just said “That’s easy – it’s a Water Sign!” I am now placing a command in your tiny tiny subconscious minds that you WILL forget which day this show will be taking place.) Aquarius Fun Fact: It’s no coincidence that the 2 people who are the current Titans of that very specific, dare I say ALL CONTROLLING mode of communication, known as the “talk show” are both Aquarians- Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres! The talk show is where one person has control over everything but gets to talk to a bunch of different people from various backgrounds and ages. They also talk about a variety of subjects and treat their audience as one big group of acquaintances but are detached enough to give the impression of God help those few that actually dare to get too close!! How Aquarian can you GET?? So bring your friends but KEEP YOUR DISTANCE on Wednesday at 830PM! Talk about Synchronicity! Check out my choice of icon for Aquarius that I chose a year ago - kind of “ahead of its time” in a retro Uranian kind of way for a certain 40th anniversary.....

Aquarius Song of the Day from Brad Kronen's "Welcome to the Zodiac" Series

    Aquarius Song of the Day
    from Brad Kronen's
    "Welcome to the Zodiac" Series

Tonight's show is dedicated to the third and final Air sign - Aquarius.  Duality is a common theme amongst the air signs but for Aquarius it's much more blatant and effusive at the same time.  Aquarius rules the 11th house, which among other things is the house of groups and friends.  The Aquarian has an almost FIERCE need to belong to a core group and for most of them in this day and age that would mean one's friends.  But being friends with an Aquarian is quite a challenge in many ways.  First off with their fixed energy you can't be spontaneous with an Aquarian assuming that a friendship will simply grow from you starting a conversation with them.  One has to EARN an Aquarian's friendship because they take friendship so seriously, and they won't be your friend or even a good acquaintance overnight.  It is a slow methodical process of them establishing trust, checking to see if your mental capacities are in the same galaxy, and also if you can approve or handle their quirky/zany/weird side once they show it to you.  And quite frankly, with their emotional detachment and aloofness from strangers, Aquarians are not the most friendly people in the world. On top of all this, Aqurians are ruled by the planet Uranus, the planet of rebellion and of individuality which means that Aquarians are out there without even trying to be, so that when they do feel like showing their indivualistic side it's either way too ahead of its time or a level of oddness that most people can't take.  So for the most part Aquarians are loners.  But this I will say in defence of my fellow air people, if you withhold judgement and allow that nervous energy to tone down and warm up, you will have a true friend for life.
I've chosen 2 pieces for our oddball airheads, the first is "Left of Center" by Suzanne Vega. It captures the distance Aquarians feel knowing allready that they're different but still keenly observing the groups around them.  The second work has no music but to this day astounds me for it's being light years ahead of time - Brian Eno's "Music for Airports".  The entire album is this flow of very detached mental sound and beauty.  I wish I could give this album out and have people listen to it first and then ask them what year they would think it came out.  Many would say recently, some would say in the 90's, very few would say the 80's.  It came out in 197freaking8!!!!  It truly is a work of brilliance and musical genius - both traits of the Uranian personality.  Aquarians PLEASE buy this CD by Brian Eno, even though it was written a while back, the futurist in you will be quite satisfied for its innovation!

    "Left of Center"

    If you want me
    You can find me
    Left of center
    Off of the strip

    In the outskirts
    In the fringes
    In the corner
    Out of the grip

    When they ask me
    "What are you looking at?"
    I always answer
    "Nothing much" (not much)
    I think they know that
    I'm looking at them
    I think they think
I must be out of touch

    But I'm only
    In the outskirts
    And in the fringes
    On the edge
    And off the avenue
    And if you want me
    You can find me
    Left of center
    Wondering about you

    I think that somehow
    Somewhere inside of us
    We must be similar
    If not the same
    So I continue
    To be wanting you
    Left of center
    Against the grain

    If you want me
    You can find me
    Left of center
    Off of the strip
    In the outskirts
    In the fringes
    In the corner
    Out of the grip

    When they ask me
    "What are you looking at?"
    I always answer
    "Nothing much" (not much)
    I think they know that
    I'm looking at them
    I think they think
I must be out of touch

    But I'm only
    In the outskirts
    And in the fringes
    On the edge
    And off the avenue
    And if you want me
    You can find me
    Left of center

    Wondering about you

Everything Else
