I am often asked how or why I became an astrologer and my answer is simple but surprising. Astrology is the ONLY thing that made sense or gave illumination during the darkest moments of my life. Time and again, astrology shows me that there is a cosmic "plan" for all of us.
I teach that everyone should try to always be aware of cosmic patterns that happen throughout life be they astrological or otherwise. In response to my most recent "darkness of the soul" where I questioned my very foundation for being, the universe responded quite clearly - by sending me Virgos.
Virgo is one of the three karmic signs (Scorpio and Pisces being the others) and by far is the sign that gets the shortest end of the stick by having words like "Anal" "Critical" "OCD" "Repetitive" "Minutia" "Clean Freak" describe their personality traits.
These words may very well be the case but as I have witnessed first hand Virgo bears the burden of being always in a state of karmic service by being right by your side during your time of need, rolling up their sleeves, and simply saying "What can I do to help?"
To me all religions equal God. Religion is inconsequential, sprituality is how the soul shows its evolution. Be that said, I was raised quite Catholic, by going to Catholic grammar and high school and attending a Jesuit College. Say what you like about the hierarchy of the Catholic Church and all its hypocricies but to this day there is one Catholic joke that I will never appreciate - making fun of nuns. Nuns are the TRUE workers and givers in the Catholic Faith. Time and again, the boys club of priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals and right up to our current Pope who was a Hitler Youth have acted in anything BUT the name of God and many of them sadly and rarely practice what they preach.
St. Therese of Lisieux was technically born a Capricorn on January 2nd, 1873 but to me she embodies the essence of the spiritually evolved Virgoan. She entered the Order of Carmelite Nuns at the age of 15 and died of tuberculosis at the age of 24. On paper, her life is quite unremarkable but she is only one of three women to ever receive a doctorate of the Church from the Pope and is the person in the modern age who has the shortest range of time between her death to being canonized a saint. Therese called herself "The Little Flower of Jesus" and described her life as the "Little Way". She believed that in the smallest, most mundane of tasks and actions we could see the face of God.) The key was how one approached the everyday world. Therese wrote in her autobiography that she tried her best to make everything an act of love. A Virgo may crticize others but the person they beat to a pulp the most is their own self because they include themselves with their striving for perfection (a state which I tell every Virgo simply does not exist and their lives will be much more worry-free the sooner they accept this.)
From now on whenever I see a Virgo grappling with perfection, I'll simply quote St. Therese:
"I know of only one means by which to achieve perfection: LOVE."
I thank the universe for showing me its love by sending me such saintly Virgoans in my time of need: Victoria, Anthony, Cathleen, Bridget, and Alan to name a few. Blessed Be!
