    Leo
Art mirrors Life. Or should I say, Art mirrors Astrological Life? I was trained and studied as a psychologist and when I discovered that astrology could be looked at as simply another way to categorize human behavior, I tried to devour as much astrological text as possible in my self education. For me everything fell into place when I came across the writings of Liz Greene, my astrological mentor. Greene herself is a trained Jungian analyst and she applied the great Carl Jung's theory of the archetype into an astrological perspective.
She likened the representation of The Sun in one's birth chart as "The Hero" ready to embark on his quest which is life itself. Both Jung and Greene would refer to mankind's need to create mythology and state that in every mythology known to man, there is the myth of the "Hero of the Sun", whether he be Ra, the Sun God in ancient Egypt or Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This hero was almost always born into a very modest or poor environment and at first would not know his true identity or lineage. In this day and age, who better to fit that model than Harry Potter, the boy wizard? And Harry Potter, not suprisingly, is a Leo - as is his creator, JK Rowling, as is his human portrayer, Daniel Radcliffe, and while we're at it, as is the father of the archetype himself, Carl Jung!
I always saw Harry as the animus (another Jungian term) of Rowling herself. Both she and he had pretty much the world opposing their paths but managed to not only succeed but be raised practically to royal status (Leo is the sign of royalty) through their belief in themselves and fixed determination. The sign of Leo is ruled by the Sun, and therefore Leos have an inherent sense of who they are and often see themselves as heroes going into battle into the everyday world. The Sun does not choose to shine on just a tree or a limited number of people, it shines on all and simply is. The same can be said with the evolved Leo, they don't need to constantly be the center of attention or in the spotlight to have their self confidence shine, they simply are Leos!
